Correction to Date-A-Base Book 2011

It has just been brought to our attention that there is an error inThe Date-A-Base Book 2011.

The incorrect entry is:

September, 75 years ago (11 Sep 1936)
U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the Boulder Dam (now the Hoover Dam) in Nevada

This event actually took place on 30 Sep 1935.

Oops – we’re very sorry about that. We always strive for 100% accuracy, but somehow this one slipped past us. We don’t believe there are any other errors in the 2011 edition.

Are you going to the conference this year? I’m thinking about it, as I haven’t been for about 5 years. If you’re going, let me know (dave@ideas4writers.co.uk) and perhaps we can meet up.

  1. With regard to the pool and fund raising ideas, one of our village charities, The Windmill Trust used to hire horse racing films, people put a bet on the horse of their choice. Didn’t make them millionaires but it was fun and raised quite a lot of money. Also, if you know an auctioneer, you could have an antiques road show, anyone who wanted to have their treasures valued, would say, pay ten pounds or perhaps five, depending on the size. Find out if they are happy to offer their service for a small nominal fee or generous enough to do it for free. You could hold a raffle during the interval, provide some heavy h’ordeavres as the Americans call it or perhaps fish and chips for the race night. For a bit of extra help, why not apply for the Lottery millions
