Members’ News – April 2010

ideas4writers member Wendy Green writes:

You may remember that you kindly mentioned me writing four personal health guides on the menopause, migraine, eczema and insomnia, for Summersdale publishers in 2008.

The books received some good reviews; these included the TV presenter Philippa Forrester describing the migraine title as a ‘revelation – full of facts I didn’t know about migraine’ in the Daily Mail. The eczema title was also recommended by the same newspaper.

A few months later Summersdale commissioned a further 4 titles in the series – on IBS, hay fever, arthritis and anxiety. The IBS and hay fever titles came out on February 1st 2010 and the remaining 2 titles are due out on May 4th 2010.

These books are slightly longer than the first 4 in the series – between 35,000 and 44,000 words – and I have tried to make them even more comprehensive and useful for readers. Again I found The fastest way to write your book extremely helpful during the writing of these titles.

I really enjoyed writing the books and was again lucky enough to find medical experts willing to both review the content to ensure the information provided is both accurate and bang-up-to-date and to write a foreword.
